Men's Ice Hockey Narrowly Falls in Overtime to UNH Club

Durham, NH - Men's Ice Hockey fell on the road in overtime to the University of New Hampshire on Friday, October 10th, 2025. The final score was 3-4.

How it Happened:
  • UNH opened the scoring five minutes into the first period, taking a 1-0 lead.
  • With eight minutes remaining in the first CJ Starr netted his first career goal thanks to assists from Hunter Coughlin and Nathan Myers.
  • This led to both teams being tied 1-1 at the end of the first period.
  • Four minutes into the second quarter UNH jumped ahead 2-1, and held the lead for most of the period.
  • The Terriers were able to respond again, this time with just under three minutes remaining.
  • Starr scored once again, tying things at 2-2.
  • Just 48 seconds later Colton Kozma scored for the Terriers, thanks to assists from Ian McClatchy to take a 3-2 lead.
  • A loose puck in the final seconds of the period found it's way in the Terrier goal, making the score 3-3 headed into the third.
  • Despite numerous chances from both teams that included continued great play by goaltender Matt D'Ortona, the teams were tied at the end of regulation.
  • The 3v3 overtime format started well for the Terriers, but UNH was able to break down the left side with a blast to score.
  • D'Ortona was sharp all night, finishing with 27 saves on 31 shots.

What's Next:
  • The Terriers will look to bounce back when they take on UNH again in what will be the 2025/26 home opener on Saturday, October 18th, 2025. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
