Hallowell, ME - Men's Ice Hockey earned a thrilling 4-2 victory against the ACHA Colby College Mules squad at the Thomas College Ice Vault on Thursday, February 5th, 2026. With the win, the Terriers earn their first victory over Colby since 2022, and are in strong contention for an ACHA playoff spot. In order to have a chance to secure a spot, the team must defeat the University of New England at home on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
How it Happened:
- Both teams traded chances to start the game, but it was the Terriers who struck first thanks to a goal from Hunter Coughlin and assist from Devon Fay with four minutes to go.
- However, just two minutes later the Mules equalized, taking the 1-1 scoreline into the first intermission.
- The Terriers continued to generate chances, eventually scoring seven minutes in.
- This time it was Quinn Hawley's pass who found Caleb Micklon, who found Tyler Gay, with Gay scoring to give the Terriers a big 2-1 lead.
- Despite several crucial saves from Terrier goaltender Matt D'Ortona in the second, the Mules tied things up again, this time with three minutes to go.
- With the scoreline 2-2 at the break, both teams looked to capitalize on their chances in the third.
- Right out of the gate the Mules began to dominate the game, forcing several incredible saves from D'Ortona to keep the Terriers in it.
- After defending well for the majority of the quarter, Micklon found Coughlin from the blue line, and Coughlin scored thanks to a good screen to give the Terriers a 3-2 lead.
- With playoff implications looming, the Mules soon pulled their goaltender to have a chance with an extra man on the ice.
- The Terriers capitalized soon after, with Hawley finding Jack Perron, who tapped the puck in to secure the 4-2 win in front of the home crowd.
