Raye Jr. Leads Terriers at Division III New England Championships

South Hadley, MA – A select group of Outdoor Track and Field athletes traveled to South Hadley, Massachusetts to compete in the Division III New England Championships on Friday and Saturday, May 3rdand 4th, 2024. Individual student-athletes had to qualify through their past performances to be eligible for this meet.

 
Women's Outdoor Track and Field:
  • Emma Burr placed second in the Women's Heptathlon with 4461 points. This earned Burr new school records in overall score for the Heptathlon, 200 Meter, and 800 Meter.
  • Burr is ranked 25th nationally in the Women's Heptathlon and will compete at Williams College in Massachusetts next weekend as she attempts to qualify for national events.
  • Mary DiSanto placed fifth in Women's Discus with a distance of 138' 4".
  • DiSanto also placed 18th in the Women's Shot Put with a distance of 36' 2".
  • Julia Reny placed eighth in Women's Javelin with a distance of 120' 1".
  • The Women's 4x100 Meter Relay team placed 21st with a time of 55.66. This team consisted of Madison Redding, Brooklyn Allen, Tori Watkins, and Reny.
  • The Women's 4x800 Meter Relay team placed 19th with a time of 11:03.23. This team consisted of Maria Protheroe, Savaughn Kungxat-Facenda, Amanda Winslow, and Rebekah Ireland. This time earned them a new school record.
  • The Women's Team finished in 22nd place out of 36 schools.
 
 
Men's Outdoor Track and Field:
  • Lionel Raye Jr. placed first in the Men's 100 Meter with a time of 10.82. Raye Jr. finished with a time of 10.55 in the preliminaries for this event, which is a new school record. This new school record is less than one second off of the current world record in the event.
  • Raye Jr. is currently ranked 26th in the nation in the Men's 100 Meter and will travel to Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Thursday, May 16th, as he attempts to qualify for national events.
  • Josiah Hays placed 14th in the Men's 110 Meter Hurdles preliminary round with a time of 15.74.
  • The Men's 4x400 Meter Relay team placed 23rd with a time of 3:49.36. This team consisted of Kyle Pelletier, Dave Louis, Miles Gadwah, and Evan Wilcox.
  • The Men's 4x800 Meter Relay team placed 20th with a time of 8:50.34. This team consisted of Patrick McKenney, Matt Shea, Owen Hargrove, and Aidan Mills.
  • The Men's Team finished in 26th place out of 33 schools.
