Men's Ice Hockey Powers Through Springfield College in 5-3 Win

Hallowell, Maine – Terrier's Men's Ice Hockey would pick up their sixth win of the season in a 5-3 victory over the Springfield College Club Hockey team on Saturday, November 23rd at the Thomas College Ice Vault. 

Records: 

Thomas: Overall (6-5) 

How it Happened: 

  • Both teams would have multiple offensive opportunities in the first period, but DJ Cagnina would score the opening goal of the match midway through the first period off a Colin Hines assist, to give Thomas a 1-0 lead. 

  • Springfield College would find a response midway through the second period to make it a 2-1 game. 

  • The Terriers would have 3 powerplay opportunities in the second period but would be unable to capitalize on any of them. 

  • Early in the 3rd period, Jonah Bird would add to the Terriers lead off a Bjorn Brickett assist to put the Terriers up 3-1. 

  • The Terriers attack would continue to push the pace in the third period, with Quinn Hawley finding Caleb Micklon for the Terriers fourth goal of the night. 

  • The Terriers attack would continue to stay hot in the third period, with Keagan Rodrigue scoring the third goal of the period for the Terriers, assisted from Hines and Joe Fischetto

  • Springfield College would score two late goals in the third period, but the Terriers would hang on to pick up a 5-3 home victory. 

  • Terriers' goaltender Matt D'Ortona would finish 18 saves in the Terriers win over Springfield College. 

What's Next:  

The Terriers will be back in action on Thursday, December 5th, taking on the Colby College Mules. Puck drop is scheduled for 8PM at Jack Kelley Rink.
