Men’s Ice Hockey Hosts Opening Game at Newly Branded Thomas College Ice Vault

Hallowell, ME – Men's Ice Hockey hosted the first game at the newly branded Thomas College Ice Vault on Saturday, October 5th, 2024. The final score was 0-6 as the Terriers matched up against a strong University of New Hampshire club squad.

University of New Hampshire: Overall (1-0)

 
How it Happened:  
  • The Terriers started the game well, outshooting the Wildcats 12-5 in the first period.
  • Despite the strong opening period the Terriers were unable to find the back of the net.
  • The Wildcats opened the scoring two minutes into the second period and added another less than a minute later to take a 2-0 lead.
  • The Wildcats would score again in the final three minutes of the period to take a 3-0 lead into the final 20 minutes.
  • Despite the Terriers best efforts, the Wildcats scored again, taking a 4-0 lead.
  • The Wildcats would close out the game with two empty-net goals to hand the Terriers a 6-0 loss.
  • Despite the loss, the Terriers outshot the Wildcats in every period. (12-5, 11-8, 8-7)
  • Terrier goalkeeper Matt D'Ortona finished with 15 saves.
 

What's Next:
  • Men's Ice Hockey will hope to bounce back as they take on Central Maine Community College at the Thomas College Ice Vault on Thursday, October 17th, 2024. Puck drop is set for 8:30 PM.
