Box Score Waterville, ME – Women's Lacrosse celebrated their senior day as they took on the University of Maine Farmington at home on Saturday April 22th, and came out with a 16-5 win, giving the Terriers their second NAC win of the 2023 season. Graduating players Lizzy Gotay, Lauren Bartlett, Aubrey Schaeffer, Amanda Blondin and Anna Chadwick were all honored in a pre-game ceremony to congratulate them on their athletic careers.
The Records:
Thomas College: Overall (3-7), NAC (2-2)
University of Maine Farmington: Overall (0-9), NAC (0-4)
How it Happened:
· Both teams came out of the gate strong, trading two goals each in the first nine minutes thanks to Mary LaRochelle and Alia Chasse.
· A mid-quarter timeout from the Terriers proved to be the turning point, helping them take control and go on a 3-1 run to end out the first quarter.
· The second quarter was highlighted by some stellar defense from the Terriers, preventing the Beavers from scoring and scoring three of their own to make the score 8-3 at halftime.
· The Terriers didn't look back after halftime, with goals in the third quarter coming from Scarlett Raymond-Ayer, LaRochelle, Emily Wallingford, and Lauren Bartlett, who scored two in the quarter.
· The Terriers came out of the third quarter with a huge 13-5 lead, and once again shut out the Beavers in the fourth quarter. Defender Aubrey Schaeffer was able to find the back of the net during this time, scoring her first goal this season.
· LaRochelle led both teams in goals with five, while Chasse had three.
· Anna Chadwick led both teams in ground balls with seven, while also notching two assists to help the Terriers to their second conference win of the season.
The Goalkeepers:
Terriers' keeper Lizzy Gotay recorded 11 saves in today's game and had a .737 save percentage.
Beavers' keeper Kate Nowell finished with nine saves on 37 shots faced.
What's Next:
Women's Lacrosse will travel to face off against SUNY Canton on Saturday, April 29. Start time is to be determined.
