Women's Lacrosse Unable to Overcome UMF in Road Conference Loss

Farmington, ME - Women's Lacrosse traveled to take on the University of Maine-Farmington in the Terriers final North Atlantic Conference road match-up of the regular season on Saturday, April 18th, but fell to the Beavers by a final score of 1-10.

Records:
Thomas: Overall (4-6), NAC (0-4)
UMF: Overall (4-9), NAC (2-2)

How it Happened:
  • The Beavers took early momentum with a goal in the opening minutes of the 1st quarter to put the Terriers behind 0-1.
  • But strong defense from both sides kept each team off the scoreboard for the remainder of the 1st quarter, sending the Terriers into the 2nd quarter down 0-1.
  • UMF looked to push the pace in the opening minutes of the 2nd quarter, scoring back-to-back goals to extend the Terriers deficit to three.
  • The Terriers mounted a late push in the second quarter with six shot attempts but were unable to capitalize, heading into halftime trailing 0-3.
  • Despite a strong save in the opening minutes of the 3rd quarter from goalkeeper Amber Boardman, a strike from the Beavers in the following minutes extended the Terriers deficit to four goals.
  • But the Terriers found an answer just moments later, with Katarina Olvera completing a nice run and finish on net to make it a 1-4 game.
  • The Terriers looked to spark some life in the 3rd with back-to-back free position shots from Isabella Pelletier, but were unable to find the back of the net.
  • Despite pressure from the Terriers in the 3rd, the Beavers quickly reclaimed the momentum, closing the quarter with three unanswered goals to make it a 1-7 game heading into the final fifteen minutes of play.
  • The Terriers continued to battle in the fourth quarter, but three unanswered goals and strong defensive play from the Beavers down the stretch proved too much to overcome, as UMF went on to hand the Terriers a 1-10 North Atlantic Conference road loss.
