HALLOWELL, MAINE – The Thomas College Club Ice Hockey team battled back from a 4-1 deficit late in the third period to the Springfield College Pride but were defeated in a shootout by a score of 6-4 on Saturday at the Maine Ice Vault. First Year Liam Doughty would make an impressive 48 saves in net for the Terriers. Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â

The first period would go back and forth with multiple opportunities for both teams, but no team would be able to find the back of the net making it a 0-0 game after one period of action, with Doughty finishing the first period with 18 saves.

Springfield would start the second with a powerplay goal early in the period to give the Pride a 1-0 lead.

The Pride would continue to put the pressure on the Terriers, scoring another two goals midway through the second to give Springfield a 3-0 lead.

Senior Daniel Guarino would give the Terriers some life late in the second, scoring off an assist from Junior DJ Cagnina making it a 3-1 game after two periods of play.Â

Springfield would find the back of the net again with eight minutes to go, giving the Pride a three goal lead.

But First Year Jonah Bird would rally the Terriers, scoring off an assist from First Year Colin Hines to cut the Terriers deficit to two goals.

Senior Cameron Tower would put the Terriers back in the game, scoring just three minutes later off an assist from First Year Tyler Gay to make it a 4-3 game with two minutes to play.

Less than a minute later, Gay would tie the game for the Terriers to force overtime, scoring an unassisted goal to knot the game at 4-4 after regulation.

Doughty would make six huge saves against Springfield in overtime to force a shootout, but the Pride would score two goals and shut the Terriers down to hold on for the 6-4 final score.
