WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's tennis team completed their third consecutive sweep as they defeated Green Mountain, 9-0, in North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Alfond Athletic Center.
The Terriers have now won five straight as they move to 6-4 (2-0 NAC) while the Eagles snap a four-game winning streak at 4-2 (1-1 NAC).
In doubles play, the Terriers took all three matches as Ryan Chasse (Fort Kent, Maine) and Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine) shutout Truman Cressey and Kei Sako 8-0 on the one line. Jared Waterhouse (Dayton, Maine) and Kaleb Payson (Lamoine, Maine) fought off Eric Wade and Javier Lugris in twos, 8-4. Ross Munn (Brunswick, Maine) and Mark Amato (Manchester, Conn.) wrapped up with an 8-0 victory over Jannelle O'Connell and Claire Chapman.
Thomas followed with six wins in singles action as Chasse downed Cressey in number ones 6-3, 6-2 while Munn defeated Sako 6-0, 6-3. On the three line, Disch cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Wade as Waterhouse topped Lugris 6-4, 6-0 in fours. To round out the day, Payson recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win over O'Connell and Amato shut down Daisuke Kon 6-0, 6-1.
The Terriers will host their final home match on Sunday, April 9 at 12:00 p.m. as they face MCLA.
