Thomas Downed by Rivier in Season Opener

NASHUA, N.H. - The Thomas men's lacrosse team only generated nine shots total on the day as the Terriers fell to the Rivier University Raiders 19-3 on the road Sunday afternoon. 

In the first quarter, Rivier held Thomas without a shot, and put home three goals to jump out ahead. The first Raider goal came 50 seconds into the game, when Cody Lynch scored unassisted. Rivier would tack on two more, as Tyler Tambouris and Kevin Dembkoski each notched one goal, with Tambouris assisting on Dembkoski's.

Colby Blondin would score the first Thomas goal of the season early in the second quarter, putting it past Raider goalkeeper Clark Plummer to bring the Terriers within two at 3-1.

Rivier would end the quarter scoring five unanswered goals to bring the first half to an end and give the Raiders an 8-1 lead.

The Raiders would extend their lead to start the third quarter, scoring two goals to go up 10-1. Jacob Kendall ended the Raider run with his first career goal at the 11:55 mark, on an assist from Zac Crimmin.

Rivier would again go on a scoring spree, notching six unanswered goals before Bryan Ferris ended the quarter with his first goal on the season off of another assist by Crimmin.

The fourth quarter saw the Raiders add three more goals before the final buzzer sounded.

Blondin, Ferris and Kendall were the Thomas goal scorers on the afternoon, each netting one, while Crimmin registered two assists for the Terriers.

Connor Lamberton got the start in net, recording 15 saves in 35:45 minutes logged. Liam Salus finished the remaining 24:15 and had four saves.

Lynch led the Raiders with four goals, two assists and 12 groundballs. Plummer got the win in goal for Rivier and notched four saves with only three goals allowed.

The Terriers will take the field next on Tuesday, March 10 when they host Wheelock in their home opener. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
