Men's Lacrosse Falls Short to Pilgrims on the Road

Henniker, NH - Men's Lacrosse traveled to take on New England College in the Terriers' final non-conference match of the season on Thursday, April 16th. Despite holding a three-goal lead midway through the 3rd quarter, a late rally from the Pilgrims proved to be too much to overcome, as the Terriers ultimately fell by a final score of 8-10.

Records:
Thomas: Overall (7-6)
New England College: Overall (3-10)

How it Happened:
  • Connor Hamilton got the Terriers offense going in the opening minutes of the 1st, finding the back of the net just over a minute into the game to give the Terriers a 1-0 advantage.
  • The Pilgrims found a response to claim the lead midway through the 1st, scoring back-to-back goals to put the Terriers behind 1-2 with four minutes to play in the quarter.
  • However, a late run and finish on net from Owen Lyons to close out the 1st knotted things up at 2-2 after 15 minutes of play.
  • Both teams continued to battle for the momentum in early in the 2nd, but a man-up goal from Nicholas Pike, off a nice pass from O. Lyons put the Terriers back in front 3-2 just under four minutes into the quarter.
  • An answer from New England College just minutes later tied things up once again, but a goal from Wyatt Lyons, assisted by O. Lyons, shortly after put the Terriers back in the lead.
  • The Pilgrims looked to secure the momentum of the match with two goals scored midway through the 2nd quarter, but a late strike from Dustyn Hinkley off a Hamilton assist sent both teams into the half tied at 5-5.
  • The Terriers opened opened the 3rd quarter with a goal from Pike just minutes into the third to put the Terriers ahead 6-5.
  • Two goals in the following minutes from O. Lyons and W. Lyons (assisted by Charlie Foster-Major) extended the Terriers lead to three goals with just under seven minutes remaining in the 3rd.
  • But the Pilgrims continued to push the pace, scoring three goals to close out the 3rd quarter and make it an 8-8 game heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
  • Both the Terriers and the Pilgrims continued to battle for the lead early in the 4th quarter, but back-to-back strikes from the Pilgrims set the Terriers back two goals with 11 minutes to play in the 4th.
  • The Terriers looked to find a response late in the 4th with four shots on net, but strong saves from the Pilgrims goalkeeper kept the Terriers off the board for the remainder of the contest, ultimately falling to New England College by a final score of 8-10.
