2013-14 Men's Basketball Season Concludes with NAC Quarterfinal Loss

LYNDONVILLE, VT – Thomas College saw its 2013-14 season come to a close, falling to Lyndon State College, 91-59, in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Quarterfinals on Tuesday evening. Sophomore guard Adam Carlsen led the Terriers with 13 points in the loss.

Thomas came out flat in the opening period, going down 23-6 within the first 10 minutes. The Terriers responded however with a 10-2 run to cut the Lyndon deficit to 26-16. The Hornets David Johnson was able to hit a buzzer-beating three pointer to end the half and take a 39-24 lead into the locker room.

Lyndon State came out in the second half and continued to shoot well from the field, extending their lead as much as 36 points at the 3:08 mark, as the Terriers were unable to recover from a slow first half.

Overall, Thomas shot a mere 33.3% (22-56) from the field, while being limited to just 4-15 (22.2%) from the perimeter. Lyndon however went 35-75 (46.7%) from the hardwood and 40.7% (11-27) from beyond the arc. The hosts also held a 54-32 advantage in rebounds in the victory.

Levi Barnes contributed with 12 points, three caroms, two steals, and two blocks for the Terriers, while Lyndon was led by David Johnson with a game-high 25 points. The Hornets had a total of five scorers in double digits in the home playoff win.

The loss signals the end of the collegiate careers for: Garon Manzo, Stanley Greene Jr., Marquis Pollard, and Jordan Hoyt, who will all graduate in the spring from Thomas College after four years as members of the men's basketball program.
