Box Score WATERVILLE, ME – Thomas was unable to stop Husson, falling to the Eagles 104-70 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon. Levi Barnes led the Terriers with 16 points, while shooting 5-11 from the floor in the losing effort.
The early stages of the opening half saw both teams go back and forth, with neither team leading by more than six points in the first 15 minutes. After a layup by Garen Manzo at 7:18, Husson would go on a 22-2 run, holding the Terriers to one basket for nearly seven minutes, and take a commanding 25 point lead.
The Eagles went into halftime with a 49-30 advantage, while shooting 48.6% (17-35) in the first stanza, while the Red and Black went an uncharacteristic 9-27 (33.3%) from the floor and had 16 turnovers.
The closing half was much of the same, with the Eagles continuing to shoot well from the floor, and finished the contest with a 34 point advantage, 104-70.
Trevon Butler led the contest with 22 points, while shooting 9-18 from the hardwood and eight caroms.
Overall, Thomas shot 38.9% (21-54) from the field, while going 7-17 (36.8%) from downtown. Husson went 37-73 (50%) from the floor, while shooting 44% (11-25) from the perimeter. The Eagles also held a 46-30 edge in rebounds.
Thomas recognized its four seniors: Garen Manzo, Stanley Greene Jr., Marquis Pollard, and Jordan Hoyt for their four years of contribution to the men's basketball program. Former Terrier standout and 1,000 career point scorer Franklin Salvador also was recognized with his former classmates as well.
Barnes finishes the regular season with 414 points, joining the elusive 400 point (season) club for the Thomas men's basketball program.
Thomas will travel to Lyndon State on Tuesday for the NAC Quarterfinals. Time of the contest is TBD.
