Terriers Topple UMF in Home Opener

WATERVILLE, ME- Thomas (1-1) was able to secure their first victory of the season in a men's lacrosse contest versus University of Maine at Farmington (0-2) Sunday afternoon.

The Terriers kicked off the game with three goals in the first quarter, while adding another in the second before Farmington was able to get on the board. At halftime Thomas had a comfortable 5-2 cushion, with Bryan Ferris (Whitman, Mass.) connecting for two and an assist in the opening half.

The closing half would be much of the same, as Thomas added eight to its lead, while withholding the Beavers from finding the back of the twine again.

Jordan Marino (Londonderry, N.H.) led the Terrier attack with three goals and two assists. Senior Jesse Morkeski (Damariscotta, Maine) registered eight saves and recording the victory.

UMF's goals came from TC Peters (Scarborough, Maine) and Jake Linkletter (Athens, Maine), while net minder Ben Altmaier (Wilton, Maine) made eight saves in the loss.

Overall, Thomas held the advantage in groundballs 31-18, shots 28-25, and faceoff wins 12-4.

With the victory, Thomas improves to 5-0 against Farmington in its history versus one another.

The Terriers will return to action on Friday, March 22 at Nichols (rescheduled from 3/6) for a 6pm start time.
