Box Score Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College men's lacrosse team dropped a 14-4 loss to the Dolphins of Mt. St. Vincent Wednesday night at Bill Alfond field on the campus of Colby College. Junior goalkeeper Jesse Morkeski recorded 22 saves for the Terriers in the loss. Dan Cohen recorded the game high points total with two goals and two assists for Mt. St. Vincent.
With the loss the Terriers drop to 0-4 (0-0 NAC) on the season, while Mt. St. Vincent improves their record to 4-2.
The Terriers took the lead early as Sean Machin scored on a feed from freshman Matt Davis. Mt. St. Vincent answered when Rowan Frederick scored an unassisted with 6:30 left in the first quarter. The Dolphins added two more scores before the end of the first quarter and convert on all nine of their clear attempts. Going into the second quarter the score sat at 3-1 in favor of the Dolphins.
The second quarter was all Mt. St. Vincent as they outshot the Terriers 23-5 and outscored the Terriers 3-2. Davis and sophomore midfielder Gunnar Shelton each added a goal for the Terriers in the second. Mt. St. Vincent's Bruce Pappas, Bryan Stein, and Pat McEnaney all scored for the Dolphins. At the half the Dolphins led the Terriers 7-3.
Senior attack Derek Racine started the second half strong for the Terriers as he took a pass from Erik Tiner II and scored cutting the lead down to three at 7-4. The Dolphins answered with a three goal run, including a man up goal with 6:30 left in the third quarter to push the lead to 11-4.
Mt. St. Vincent would go on to score four more goals in the fourth quarter, as well as holding the Terriers to only one shot on net. The final score stood at 14-4 as the Dolphins picked up their fourth victory of the season.
The Terriers will take on Wheelock College on the campus of Pine Manor College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Dolphins also travel to Wheelock College for a 3:00 p.m. game tomorrow.
