Box Score Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College men's soccer team got a jolt of momentum when sophomore Chimdike Okorie came off the bench and scored his first career goal, putting the Terriers up 1-0 over the Clippers of Maine Machias. Okorie's goal was the beginning of a seven goal run for the Terriers as they cruised to a 7-0 non-conference victory. With the win the Terriers improve to 3-0 (0-0 NAC); while the Clippers fall to 1-3.
Okorie's goal came at the perfect time for the Terriers; calming the team after receiving two yellow cards in the early goings of a rough game that saw five yellows handed out. Sophomore Kyle Rabe helped to add some insurance after he notched his second goal of the season when he found the back of the net off a rebound given up by Clippers goal keeper Luis Herrera.
At the break the Terriers held a 2-0 lead.
The Terriers went right back to work on building their lead in the 49th minute when freshman Blake Boswell connected from 20 yards out putting the Terriers up 3-0; fellow freshman Dakota Duplisse assisted Boswell on the play. Freshman Khamisi Lightbourne added the Terriers fourth goal of the match when he handled the rebound of a shot he had blasted off the crossbar in the 61st minute. Boswell blasted his second goal of the match two minutes later when he connected on a free kick. Sophomore Michael Hand put the Terriers up 6-0 in the 68th minute when he finished a penalty kick.
The Terriers run was finished buy the man who got it going, when Okorie finished a header off of a Matt Ford corner kick.
Thomas goal keeper Mikkail Crockwell picks up the win and his third clean sheet in a row; while Herrera shoulders the loss for the Clippers.
The Terriers will begin the defense of their '10 North Atlantic Conference title when they play host to Husson in their first NAC game of the year on September 17th.
