Men's Soccer Earns Decisive 3-1 Win Against MMA in NAC Semifinals

Waterville, ME – Men's Soccer earned a decisive 3-1 victory against the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners in the North Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Semifinals on Saturday, October 1st, 2025.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers started well, with David Ivarsson beating a defender and finding T'syi Showers in the 14th minute to give the Terriers a crucial 1-0 lead.
  • Just eight minutes later the Mariners responded with a looping free kick that was headed into the back of the net to tie things at 1-1.
  • Despite the goal the Terriers remained composed, holding much of the possession.
  • In the 26th minute Ivarsson received the ball on the wing, dribbled past two player to cut inside, and rifled a shot into the top right corner from the edge of the box to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead.
  • The Mariner goalkeeper was forced to make a good save in the 35th minute off of a shot from Kevin Segura, preventing a quality chance.
  • Neither team earned a shot on goal for the remainder of the half, and the Terriers took a 2-1 lead into halftime.
  • The Terriers started the second half well, with a shots from Micky Woodrow and Shafi Ibrahim forcing two more saves from the Mariner goalkeeper.
  • Jamie Fischer was forced to make a good diving save in the 56th minute from a Mariner shot to preserve the Terrier lead.
  • Just three minutes later the Terrier nearly scored their third after chaos in front of the Mariner goal.
  • A shot from Woodrow hit the crossbar, then fell to Jeremiah Gomez, who forced an incredible save from the Mariner goalkeeper.
  • The Terriers continued to dominate much of the game, with the final chance coming in the last minute.
  • With the Mariners attempting to get numbers forward Andrew Hodgins started a counter attack and sent a perfect through ball to Ivarsson, who took one touch and passed it to Ibrahim in the center, who was all alone.
  • Ibrahim was able to evade the Mariner goalkeeper, scoring to make it 3-1 wih 15 seconds remaining.
