Abby Stevens Hat Trick Leads Field Hockey to 6-0 Win Against Farmington

Waterville, ME - The Thomas College Field Hockey team opened conference play with a 6-0 shutout victory over the University of Maine at Farmington on Wednesday evening at Bernatchez Field. The Terriers scored four goals in the second quarter and added two more in the third to secure the win.\

How It Happened:
  • Thomas came out firing in the opening quarter, earning four penalty corners and creating several early scoring opportunities. The Terriers held UMF without a shot in the opening 15 minutes.
  • The Terriers broke through early in the second quarter when Abby Stevens found the back of the cage at 15:53 to give Thomas a 1-0 lead.
  • Stevens struck again just over two minutes later, extending Thomas' advantage to 2-0 at 18:21.
  • Stevens completed the hat trick at 23:40, scoring her third goal of the night with Tatiana Roque earning the assist.
  • Thomas continued its offensive pressure, earning several penalty corners before Samantha Thebarge scored at 25:43. Isabella Pelletier and Maci Freeman were credited with assists as the Terriers took a 4-0 lead into halftime.
  • Thomas added to its lead early in the third quarter when Maci Freeman scored at 32:20.
  • Just under three minutes later, Celia Stinson found the back of the cage at 35:08 to make it a 6-0 game.
  • Thomas defense held strong throughout the remainder of the contest, limiting UMF to just one shot and keeping the Beavers off the scoreboard.
  • Eliya Drummond played 45 minutes in goal before Madi Ross took over for the final 15 minutes. Neither goalkeeper allowed a goal as Thomas secured the shutout.
