Field Hockey Falls to #10 Ranked Bowdoin College

Waterville, ME - The Thomas College Field Hockey team fell to Bowdoin College, 0-8, on Saturday afternoon at Bernatchez Field. The Terriers battled through all four quarters, with Mackenzie Toner making eight saves in the cage. 
 

How It Happened: 

  • Bowdoin opened the scoring at 4:24 of the first quarter, with Emily Ferguson finding the back of the cage. 

  • The Polar Bears added their second goal at 10:04 before taking a 0-2 lead into the second quarter. 

  • Bowdoin extended its advantage early in the second quarter, scoring at 16:09 and 17:05 to take a 0-4 lead. 

  • Thomas created its first offensive opportunities late in the half, earning a penalty corner at 22:32. Samantha Thebarge's shot was saved by the Bowdoin goalkeeper. 

  • The Terriers continued to pressure in the final minutes of the half, earning three additional penalty corners. Celia Stinson put a shot on goal, while Maci Freeman's attempt went wide and Thebarge's shot was blocked. 

  • Bowdoin added two more goals in the third quarter, scoring at 33:43 and 37:07 to take a 0-6 lead heading into the final 15 minutes. 

  • Thomas continued to battle in the fourth quarter, with Abby Stevens putting two shots toward the cage, including one that was saved by the Bowdoin goalkeeper. 

  • Bowdoin added two goals in the final quarter to close out the 0-8 win. 

  • Toner finished the afternoon with eight saves, while Emily Battisti recorded a defensive save for the Terriers.

  • Thomas finished with 6 shots and 4 penalty corners. 

     

What's Next: 

The Terriers will remain at home on Monday, October 5, when they host Colby College at Bernatchez Field. The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
