Field Hockey Falls Short Against Colby College at Home

Waterville, ME - The Thomas College Field Hockey team battled Colby College on Monday evening at Bernatchez Field, with the Mules earning a 4-0 victory over the Terriers.

 

How It Happened: 

  • Thomas and Colby battled through a scoreless opening quarter, with Eliya Drummond making an early save at 7:34 to keep the Mules off the scoreboard. 

  • Colby applied pressure late in the first quarter, earning three penalty corners, but the Thomas defense held strong to keep the game scoreless after 15 minutes. 

  • The Mules broke through at 23:13 when Ruth Collins scored to give Colby a 1-0 lead. 

  • Colby added a second goal at 28:24 when McKay Allain found the back of the cage, sending the game to halftime with the Mules leading 2-0. 

  • Thomas created its first shot of the game early in the third quarter when Tatiana Roque's attempt off a penalty corner was stopped by a defensive save. 

  • Drummond continued to keep the Terriers within striking distance, making four saves during the third quarter. 

  • Colby extended its lead at 39:35 when Christina Sweeney scored off an assist from Nora Foley. 

  • The Mules added another goal at 44:19 when Alex Hood scored off an assist from Siena Brackett, making it a 4-0 game heading into the final quarter. 

  • Thomas continued to battle in the fourth quarter, earning three penalty corners in the final three minutes. Samantha Thebarge had three shots during the late push, with two blocked and one going wide. 

  • Colby held off the late Thomas pressure to secure the 4-0 victory.
