Field Hockey Falls in Hard-Fought Matchup Against Keene State

Waterville, ME - The Thomas College field hockey team fell to Keene State College, 3-4, on Saturday afternoon at Bernatchez Field during Homecoming. The Terriers jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first quarter and held a 3-2 advantage at halftime before the Owls rallied for the win.
 

How It Happened: 

  • Thomas opened the scoring just three minutes into the game when Tatiana Roque found the back of the cage to give the Terriers an early 1-0 lead. 

  • Keene State responded with a goal at 13:26, cutting the Thomas lead to 2-1 heading into the second quarter. 

  • Thomas regained its two-goal advantage at 25:17 when Stinson scored her second goal of the afternoon. 

  • Keene State answered less than a minute later, making the score 3-2. 

  • The Owls tied the game at 32:04 of the third quarter. 

  • Thomas created several opportunities throughout the third quarter, earning two penalty corners and recording shots from Stevens, Maci Freeman, Stinson and Samantha Thebarge. 

  • Keene State scored the game-winning goal at 48:12, taking a 3-4 lead. 

  • Thomas continued to pressure in the final minutes, earning a penalty corner at 54:45, but the Keene State goalkeeper made a save on Thebarge's shot. 

  • The Owls held on through the final whistle to secure the 3-4 victory.

  • The Terriers will remain at home on Sunday, September 27, when they host Vermont State University Castleton at Bernatchez Field. Game time is scheduled for 12:30 PM during Homecoming weekend.
