Women's Volleyball Falls in Hard-Fought Matchup Against USM

Waterville, ME -  The Thomas College Women's Volleyball team delivered one of its strongest performances of the season Saturday morning, highlighted by a dominant second-set victory, but the University of Southern Maine Huskies came away with a 3-1 non-conference win at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium. The loss moves the Terriers to 1-6 on the season.


How It Happened:
  • The Terriers and huskies traded points early led by Kills from Natalie Roy, Haley Vickery and Addison Lebel
  • Southern Maine built a 15-9 advantage in the opening set before Thomas mounted a late rally.
  • Kills from Lindsay Pool and Addison Lebel helped the Terriers cut the deficit to 24-19, but the Huskies held on for a 25-19 set victory.
  • Thomas responded emphatically in the second set, racing out to a 5-0 lead behind a kill from Mady Normand and strong serving pressure.
  • Normand recorded four service aces during a dominant run, while Camille Gibson added three aces late as the Terriers cruised to a 25-7 win to even the match.
  • The Terriers carried that momentum into the third set, jumping out to a 7-1 lead behind a pair of Savannah Lopez service aces.
  • Southern Maine battled back and eventually tied the set at 20-20 before scoring five of the final six points to earn a 25-21 victory.
  • The Huskies carried their momentum into the fourth set, opening with a 4-0 run and maintaining control for much of the frame.Thomas fought back to pull within 18-16 following consecutive kills from Haley Vickery and Natalie Roy, but Southern Maine closed the match on a 7-2 run to secure the 25-18 set win and the 3-1 match victory.
