Waterville, ME - Field Hockey earned their first victory of the 2026 season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Plymouth State University, 6-3, at home. The Terriers jumped out to an early lead and continued to build momentum throughout the game.


How It Happened:

• Just 27 seconds into the game, the Terriers got on the board as Samantha Thebarge found the back of the cage off a penalty corner, assisted by Isabella Pelletier and Maci Freeman. 

• The Terriers continued to pressure the Panthers early, earning multiple penalty corners and putting shots on goal.

• Mackenzie Toner came up with several saves in the opening quarter to keep Plymouth State off the scoreboard as Thomas took a 1-0 lead into the second quarter.

• Just over a minute into the second quarter, Tatiana Roque doubled the Terrier lead with an unassisted goal. 

• Less than a minute later, Thebarge found the back of the cage again, this time off a penalty corner with an assist from Freeman, giving Thomas a 3-0 advantage. 

• Plymouth State responded with two goals later in the second quarter, cutting the Terrier lead to 3-2 heading into halftime. 

• The Panthers continued to apply pressure early in the third quarter, but Toner made several key saves to keep the game within reach. 

• With just under four minutes remaining in the third quarter, Plymouth State tied the game at 3-3. 

• Thomas answered just over a minute later when Abby Stevens scored off a penalty corner, assisted by Thebarge, giving the Terriers a 4-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter. 

• The Terriers added to their lead early in the fourth quarter as Thebarge completed her hat trick with her third goal of the afternoon, assisted by Freeman. 

• With just under three minutes remaining, Roque scored her second goal of the game, assisted by Freeman, to give Thomas a 6-3 lead. 

• The Terrier defense held strong in the final minutes, including defensive saves from Emily Battisti and Thebarge, to secure the 6-3 victory.
