Baseball Earns 5-3 Comeback Win Against #2 SUNY Cobleskill, Advances to NAC Championship Series

Bangor, ME - Baseball took on #2 seeded SUNY Cobleskill in day two of the NAC Championship Tournament, defeating them in a thrilling 5-3 comeback win to advance to the NAC Championship Series against #1 seeded Husson University to be played on Satuday, May 9th, 2026 at 1:00 PM. The Terriers would need to beat Husson twice, while the Eagles will only need to win once. If needed, game two will be played immediately after game one tomorrow.

How it Happened:
  • The game began with a pitcher's duel, as Ankit Shah started off the game strong on the mound for the Terriers. 
  • In the second inning the Fighting Tigers earned the game's first run, taking advantage of a throwing error to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Good fielding from the Terriers held the Fighting Tigers scoreless over the next few innings.
  • In the bottom of the fourth the Terriers capitalized from a ground out, with Gus Hollen coming across the plate to tie things at 1-1.
  • However, the Fighting Tigers struck again in the top of the fifth, taking a 2-1 lead from a single to left center field.
  • Once again the Terriers were able to battle back, with Hollen sending a single to left field that scored Ajay Rychcik to tie things 2-2.
  • In a back-and-forth game, the Fighting Tigers took back the lead from another single, making it 3-2 in the seventh inning.
  • Next inning the Terriers found their footing at the plate, scoring three runs thanks to RBI from Hollen, and two from Jeremy Spencer to make it 5-3.
  • After Shah's impressive performance on the mound, Walsh was once again tasked with closing out the game for the Terriers.
  • Walsh was able to deliver, forcing several ground and fly balls that secured the 5-3 win for the Terriers.
