How it Happened:

Game One: 0-6 Loss

  • USM continued to apply pressure in the third inning, adding two more runs to extend the lead to 4–0.
  • In the fourth inning the Huskies reached on a single that led to an unearned run, pushing the advantage to 5–0.
  • Southern Maine capped off the scoring in the sixth inning with an RBI single, sealing the 6–0 final score.
  • Thomas College battled throughout but was unable to generate offense against a strong Huskies defensive and pitching performance.

Game Two: 2-7 Loss
  • In Game two of the doubleheader, the Huskies jumped out to an early lead once again in the first inning, to make it 2–0.
  • Thomas responded in the third inning with a spark of momentum after Carlie Jarvais reached on an error that allowed Morgan Duhaime to score.
  • Shortly after, Megan Oberholzer drove in Jarvais with an RBI single to tie the game at 2–2.
  • However, Southern Maine answered decisively in the fourth inning.
  • A two-RBI single regained the lead, followed by a two-RBI double and an RBI single to cap off a five-run inning and extend the advantage to 7–2.
  • The Terriers battled throughout and showed improvement offensively compared to Game one, but the Huskies' big fourth inning proved to be the difference.
