Softball Earns Doubleheader Split Against SUNY Cobleskill in Conference Opener

Waterville, ME - Softball earned a doubleheader split in the team's conference openers on Saturday, April 11th, 2026. The final scores were a 10-2 win, and a 2-6 loss.
 
How it Happened:

Game One: 10-2 Win (6 Innings)
  • After a scoreless start, the Terriers broke things open in the bottom of the third inning.
  • Emily Rock got the scoring started with an RBI walk to bring in Brooklyn Federico to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
  • Moments later, Lillian Noyes delivered the biggest hit of the game, a bases-clearing triple down the right field line, scoring Federico, Leah Knight, and Mackenzie Toner, giving Thomas a 4–0 lead.
  • Maddy Morris followed with an RBI single, scoring Noyes to extend the advantage to 5–0.
  • Thomas kept the pressure on in the fourth inning. Rock drew another RBI walk, scoring Abby Farone.
  • Noyes stayed hot at the plate with an RBI single scoring Knight to push the lead to 7–0.
  • SUNY Cobleskill responded in the sixth inning with a two-run single but the Terriers quickly shut the door.
  • Noyes struck again with her second triple of the game soon after, driving in two more runs with Rock and Corrine Vasvary crossing the plate.
  • Morris added another RBI single scoring Noyes to cap the scoring at 10–2.

Game Two: 2-7 Loss (7 Innings)
  • After a dominant Game one win, SUNY Cobleskill struck early in the first inning, to take a 1–0 lead.
  • They added to their advantage in the fourth inning, extending the lead to 3–0.
  • Cobleskill continued to build in the sixth inning, to make it 5–0.
  • Thomas found life in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jennie Whitten delivered a clutch two-RBI double, scoring Bella Medeiros and Megan Oberholzer to cut the deficit to 5–2.
  • However, SUNY Cobleskill responded in the seventh with an RBI, sealing the 6–2 final score.
