Men's Tennis Clinches Empire 8 Conference #1 Seed with Sweep Against Lesley

Cambridge, MA - Men's Tennis traveled to take on the Lesley University Lynx at MIT on Sunday, April 19th, 2026. The final scores in the doubleheader were 7-0, 7-0. With the wins, the Terriers have clinched the #1 overall seed in the Empire 8 Eastern Division and will host the semifinals and championship of the Empire 8 Men's Tennis Championship Tournament on May 1-2, 2026.

How it Happened:

Match One - 7-0 Win
  • In the day's only countable conference match, Thai Nguyen and Casey Duncan teamed up at #1 doubles to earn a strong 6-3 win.
  • At #2 doubles Camden Herrick and Dominic Clifford earned a 6-0 sweep.
  • To wrap up doubles Ricky Salazar and Calvin Cutler also earned a 6-0 sweep, giving the Terriers a 1-0 overall match lead.
  • Nguyen at #1 singles earned a quick 6-0, 6-3 win.
  • At the #2 spot Clifford won convincingly 6-0, 6-1.
  • Herrick followed up with a sweep at #3 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
  • At #4 singles Cutler nearly swept his opponent, winning 6-0, 6-1.
  • Duncan also won 6-0, 6-1 at #5 singles.
  • To wrap up match one Noah Cook earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at #6 singles, completing the 7-0 win over the Lynx.

Match Two - 7-0 Win
  • Starting with doubles in match two, Nguyen and Clifford teamed up to win 6-2 at the #1 doubles spot.
  • Cook and Herrick teamed up to win 6-0 at #2 doubles.
  • At the #3 spot Cutler and Salazar earned a dominant 6-1 win, giving the Terriers a 1-0 overall match lead.
  • Clifford was tasked with the #1 singles spot in match two, winning 6-1, 6-0.
  • Herrick followed up at the #2 spot with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
  • At the #3 singles spot Cutler was tested, but won 7-5, 6-0.
  • With Duncan at the #4 spot he won consistently, 6-2, 6-2.
  • Cook once again swept his opponent, this time at #5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
  • To conclude the day for the Terriers Salazar won 6-1, 6-0 at the #6 spot, giving the Terriers their second 7-0 win of the day.

What's Next:
  • Men's Tennis will be back in action when they travel to take on the University of Southern Maine on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
