Softball Splits Doubleheader Against St. Joe's in Non-Conference Matchup

Standish, ME - Softball earned a doubleheader split against the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026. The Terriers earned a thrilling 12-8 win in game one, but fell 2-6 in game two.
 
 
How it Happened:

Game One: 12-8 Win
  • The Terriers capitalized early on Saint Joseph's miscues, as a passed ball brought in Maddy Morris for the game's first run.
  • With runners in scoring position, Maeve Hickok delivered an RBI single, scoring Leah Knight to extend the early lead.
  • Saint Joseph's responds immediately with a sacrifice fly to get on the board, then a two run single flips momentum and gives the Monks a quick 3–2 lead.
  • The Terriers answer right back as Maddy Morris ties the game with an RBI single to start the second inning, scoring Morgan Duhaime, making it a 3-3 game.
  • In a key momentum swing, Megan Oberholzer drove in Morris and Abby Farone with a clutch hit to reclaim the lead 5-3, still in the second inning.
  • Keeping the pressure on, Jennie Whitten added another RBI scoring Oberholzer to cap a five-run inning, making it 6-3.
  • The Monks chipped away with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly, slowly closing the gap 6-5 to finish the third inning.
  • A solo home run from the Monks ties the game, shifting momentum late to 6-6 in the fifth.
  • Moments later, a two-run homer puts the Terriers behind for the first time to make it 6-8 to end the fifth.
  • Facing a deficit, in the sixth inning Mackenzie Toner sparked a rally with an RBI double, scoring Knight to cut the lead to 7-8.
  • Whitten was able to come through again, tying the game with an RBI single, scoring Oberholzer, making it 8–8.
  • Hickok eventually gave Thomas the lead with another clutch RBI hit, scoring Corrine Vasvary, making it 9–8.
  • The rally continued as Duhaime brought in Emily Rock on a fielder's choice, making it a 10-8 game.
  • Farone added an insurance run with a sacrifice RBI, scoring Hickok, to make it 11-8 in the sixth inning.
  • Bella Medeiros caped the six-run inning with an RBI single, scoring Duhaime, aided by an error, sealing the 12–8 win for the Terriers.

Game Two: 2-6 Loss
  • The Monks took an early lead on a passed ball, making it 0-1.
  • An RBI double soon after brought the Monks the lead to 0-2 in the first inning.
  • Gonzalez got the Terriers on the board with an RBI double, scoring Vasvary to make it 1-2.
  • Soon after Oberholzer was able to reach base on an error, bringing in Gonzalez to make it 2-2.
  • An RBI double puts the Monks back in front in the fourth, followed by another insurance run to make it 2-4.
  • Later on in the bottom of the sixth inning the Monks struck again, this time scoring two more runs.
  • Despite the team's best efforts, the Monks handed the Terriers a 2-6 loss in game two.

  •  Softball will be back in action on Monday, April 6th, when they travel to take on the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a doubleheader. Start times are scheduled for 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
