Softball Earns Hard-Fought Win in Doubleheader on Day Two of Spring Trip

Kissimmee, FL - Softball faced off against Benedictine University and Washington and Jefferson College in a doubleheader on day two of their annual spring trip on Sunday, March 8th, 2026. The final scores were 3-7 against Benedictine and 6-4 against Washington and Jefferson College.

How it Happened:

Game One: 3-7 Loss VS Benedictine University
  • Benedictine got on the board first in the second inning after a solo home run, making it 0-1.
  • Two more runs in the third inning from Benedictine made it 0-3, but the Terriers were able to battle back.
  • In the bottom of the inning Maddy Morris was able to reach base on a fielder's choice that scored Carlie Jarvais to make it 1-3.
  • Megan Oberholzer followed up with a hard-hit single up the middle that scored Morris and Brooklyn Federico to tie things at 3-3.
  • Benedictine was able to bounce back with four runs of their own in the fourth inning, making it 3-7.
  • Neither team was able to bring home any runs in the final three innings, giving Benedictine a 7-3 win over the Terriers.

Game Two: 6-4 Win VS Washington and Jefferson College
  • This time the Terriers struck first, scoring in the second inning.
  • A single from Abby Farone with bases loaded scored Mackenzie Toner to give the Terriers an early lead.
  • Washington and Jefferson was able to battle back with four runs scored in the third inning after a single and a double, making it 1-4.
  • The Terriers weren't done yet, taking advantage of a big fourth inning to build back to a tie.
  • Another single from Farone scored Elisa Gonzalez, then Oberholzer followed up with a single up the middle that scored Farone and Bella Medeiros to make it 4-4.
  • Strong defensive work from the Terriers, including from pitchers Oberholzer and Federico, shut out Washington and Jefferson for the next few innings.
  • The Terriers tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh thanks to a single from Emily Rock and a sacrifice fly from Mederios that scored Jennie Whitten.
  • With the final two runs, the Terriers walked away with a hard-fought 6-4 win.

  • Softball will continue their spring trip tomorrow, March 9th, when they take on Penn State Behrend at 9:00 AM and Earlham College at 11:15 AM at the Bartow Park Sports Complex in Florida.
