Kissimmee, FL – The Terriers opened their spring break trip with a split on Saturday, March 7th. In game one, they shut out St. Scholastica College, 5–0. In game two, Wheaton College (Mass.) capitalized on runners on base, handing the Terriers a 4–0 loss.
Game One:
- The Terriers applied pressure early against the Saints but were unable to capitalize in the first and second innings, leaving runners on base.
- They finally broke through in the bottom of the third inning when Lillian Noyes singled to right field, driving in Maeve Hickok for the game's first run.
- Thomas added to its lead in the fourth inning.
- Abby Farone started the inning with a single to right field, and Brooklyn Federico later reached on a walk, advancing Farone.
- After a sacrifice bunt by Maddy Morris moved both runners into scoring position, Megan Oberholzer delivered a single to center field to score both runners.
- The game remained 3–0 until the sixth inning, when a string of hits from Federico, Morris, Oberholzer, Hickok, and Noyes helped extend the lead and secure the 5–0 victory.
Inside the Stats:
- Sophomore transfer Lillian Noyes earned her first start and win in the circle, striking out seven and allowing just three hits.
- Maeve Hickok finished 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI.
- Brooklyn Federico went 2-for-3.
Game Two:
- After a quick first inning, Jennie Whitten and Hickok created a strong scoring opportunity for the Terriers. However, with runners on second and third, the inning ended before Thomas could push a run across.
- Wheaton responded in the second inning, scoring the first run of the game.
- In the fourth inning, the Terriers again had two runners in scoring position but were unable to capitalize.
- Both teams remained steady over the next two innings before the momentum shifted in Wheaton's favor. A two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth, followed by a sacrifice fly, brought in the Lyons' fourth and final run.
- Thomas had one last opportunity in the top of the seventh but was unable to rally.
Inside the Stats:
- Megan Oberholzer started game two before being relieved by sophomore Brooke Smith, who finished with four strikeouts while allowing six hits.
- Hickok again led the Terriers offensively, going 2-for-3.
