Baseball Comes Up Short in Day Two of Spring Trip Against Anna Maria

Auburndale, FL - Baseball entered day two of their spring trip to Florida, this time taking on Anna Maria College in a doubleheader. The final scores were 2-12 in game one and 4-8 in game two.

How it Happened:

Game One:
  • The Terriers started game one off well, taking an early lead over the Amcats.
  • In the second inning Zeke Rand sent a double down the left field line that scored Gus Hollen to make it 1-0.
  • A few batters later Rand took advantage of a passed ball to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead.
  • In the next inning the Amcats struck back with three runs of their own, taking advantage of an error to make it 3-2.
  • The Amcats struck again in the fourth, scoring four runs to make it 7-2.
  • In the fifth and sixth innings the Amcats continued to roll with several more hits, eventually going on to win 12-2.

Inside the Stats:
Game Two:
  • The Amcats continued their pace in game two, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
  • In the second inning walks from Pedro Hernandez, Nathan Paes, and a hit-by-pitch from Evan Nadeau saw the bases loaded for the Terriers.
  • A passed ball from the Amcats saw Hernandez score thanks to some good base running.
  • The Amcats tacked on one more run in the bottom of the third, making it 1-4.
  • Both teams scored the fourth inning, this time with a sacrifice fly from Dippner that scored Patrick Temby to make it 2-6 headed into the fifth.
  • Ajay Rychcik scored on a balk to make things 3-6 after getting on from a walk, then Rand scored on another passed ball to make it 4-6.
  • The Amcats scored the game's final two runs in the bottom of the fifth to make the final score 4-8.

  • Baseball will continue their spring trip to Florida when they take on Russell Sage College in a nine inning contest in Auburndale. Start time is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
