Davenport, FL - Baseball opened up their season against a talented Wheaton College squad at Northeast Regional Park on Friday, March 6th, 2026. The final score was 2-11 in favor of the Lyons in the nine inning contest.

How it Happened:

• Both pitchers started off well, creating a defensive battle through the first few innings.
• Ian Libby struck out four batters in the first three innings, while excellent fielding backed him up.
• In the top of the fourth inning Ajay Rychcik sent a double to deep left field, which scored Gus Hollen to give the Terriers an important 1-0 lead.
• The Lyons were able to bounce right back in the bottom of the inning, sending a double that scored a run.
• Both teams were stuck in a deadlock until the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Lyons struck again to make it 1-2.
• The Terriers answered right back with a run of their own after a ground out from Mitch Regan scored Rychcik to tie things at 2-2.
• A huge seventh inning from the Lyons saw them score nine runs to take a 11-2 lead, and they never looked back.
• Neither team was able to score in the final two innings, and the Lyons walked away with a 11-2 win over the Terriers.
