Baseball Narrowly Falls to St. Joseph's College 8-9

Standish, ME – Baseball mounted a late comeback bid, but fell just short in a hard-fought 8-9 loss to the Saint Joseph's College Monks in a nine-inning contest on Thursday, March 26th, 2026.


How it Happened:

  • The game started as a defensive battle, with the Monks striking first in the opening inning, taking an early 1-0 lead before adding another run in the fourth to go up 2-0.
  • The Terriers broke through in the sixth inning after a double down the left field line from Gus Hollen scored Hayden Dippner to make it 1-2.
  • Ajay Rychcik followed up with a home run that scored Hollen, taking the lead back to make it 3-2.
  • However, the Monks were able to continue chipping away offensively, adding runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to make it 3-7 headed into the ninth inning.
  • In the top of the ninth inning the Terrier bats came alive in a big way.
  • A single from Mitch Regan to cetner field scored Zeke Rand to make things 4-7.
  • Dippner followed up with a clutch grand slam, scoring four runs to make it 8-7 and giving the Terriers momentum.
  • Despite the Terriers' best efforts the Monks were able to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth, leading to a 9-8 loss.

  • Hayden Dippner - 1 Hit, 4 RBI, 1 HR
  • Ajay Rychcik - 2 Hits, 2 RBI
  • Mitch Regan - 2 Hits, 1 RBI
  • Nine Terrier pitchers were used in the game, with each inning bringing a new face to the mound.

What's Next:
  • Baseball will be back in action on Sunday, March 29th, when they take on the University of Maine Presque Isle at Colby College. Start times are scheduled for 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM.
