Baseball Earns Dominant 12-2 Win Against Emerson College

Boston, MA - Baseball earned a commanding 12-2 win over Emerson College on Friday, March 20th, in a single nine inning contest.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning, with DJ Cagnina sending a single to left field that brought home Hayden Dippner to make it 1-0.
  • Ajay Rychcik followed up with an RBI that scored Gus Hollen, making it 2-0 to close out the first inning.
  • The Terriers added to their lead in the second inning as Cagnina came through again with a two-RBI double down the right field line, scoring Dippner and Nathan Paes, extending the lead to 4-0.
  • In the third inning Dippner delivered an RBI single, advancing the runners and scoring Grady Hotham to push the lead to 5-0, continuing the steady offensive pressure.
  • The Terriers kept the momentum rolling in the fourth when Cagnina launched a solo home run to left field, making it 6-0.
  • Soon after in the fifth inning Jandre Rivera-Caraballo hit a solo home run to right field, followed by an Emerson error to take an 8-0 lead.
  • In the seventh inning the Terriers added two more runs. Hollen scored on a wild pitch, and Zeke Rand followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home another run, extending the lead to 10-0.
  • Emerson was able to respond in the bottom of the seventh with two runs on a fielder's choice and an RBI single, but that would be all they could manage offensively.
  • The Terriers closed out the scoring in the eighth inning, adding two more runs on a wild pitch and another fielder's choice to secure a 12-2 win.
  • Ian Libby earned the start on the mound for the Terriers, dominating and holding Emerson scoreless in his five innings pitched.
