Women's Basketball Earns Decisive 71-36 Conference Win Over Lesley

Waterville, ME - Women's Basketball hosted Lesley University in a North Atlantic Conference match-up on Saturday, February 7th, defeating the Lesley University Lynx by a final score of 71-36. Elena Alderman and Pryelle Kesse-Beda led the scoring for the Terriers in the win, finishing with 14 points apiece.


How it Happened:
  • The Terriers claimed the momentum from the tip, completing a 13-0 run in the opening minutes of the 1st quarter thanks to Alderman, Kesse-Beda, and Emily Hagerty.
  • The Lynx found a response late in the 1st, cutting the Terriers lead to 7 points with 3 minutes to play in the quarter.
  • Kaya Loring knocked down back-to-back jumpers to close the first quarter, swinging the momentum back to the Terriers and giving them a 19–10 lead heading into the second quarter.
  • Mykey Avni and Elena Alderman knocked down a pair of three-pointers to open the 2nd quarter, extending the Terriers lead to 14 points.
  • Lesley continued to chip away at their deficit midway through the 2nd, but made buckets from Alderman and Holly Loring made it a 29-13 game with just over four minutes to play in the half.
  • A late layup from Maria Tomova and made free-throws from Brooklyn Calder sent the Terriers into the half with a 33-18 lead.
  • The Terriers continued to push the pace early in the 3rd, completing a quick 11-2 run to make it a 44-20 game.
  • A quick seven-point run from Hagerty, Kesse-Beda, and Alderman midway through the third quarter kept the Terriers' offense rolling.
  • Avni, Deja Hamilton, and Kay McLellan closed out the 3rd quarter with made buckets, giving the Terriers a 58-25 lead with ten minutes remaining in regulation.
  • The Lynx continued to chip away at their deficit in the 4th quarter, but the Terriers ultimately controlled the remainder of the contest to secure a dominant 71-36 North Atlantic Conference win.
