Women's Basketball Earns Thrilling Overtime Win Over Rivier

Waterville, ME - Roxy Dagostino and Pryelle Kesse-Beda helped lead the Terriers to a thrilling 73-68 overtime win against the Rivier University Raiders on Monday, January 5th, 2026.

How it Happened:
  • The Raiders got off to a quick start, capitalizing from some early Terrier misses to take an 8-4 lead four minutes in.
  • Dagostino took over late in the first with six late points, making it 14-18 headed into the second quarter.
  • The Terriers took that momentum into the second quarter, with Dagostino hitting two huge threes and a layup early, making it 24-20.
  • Much of the second half of the quarter was a defensive battle, with both teams playing hard-nosed defense.
  • This resulted in blocks from Holly Loring and Kesse-Beda to set the tone.
  • A late three from Dagostino gave the Terriers a comfortable 32-24 lead heading into the second half.
  • The Terriers continued to roll early in the third quarter behind points from Loring and Kesse-Beda, making it 41-27.
  • However, the momentum began to shift heading into the fourth quarter after both teams traded points.
  • The Raiders opened up the fourth quarter on a 6-3 run, then had a 5-0 run halfway through the fourth to make it 50-55
  • After cutting the Terrier lead to just five, Elena Alderman earned a crucial and-one play, converting the free throw to give the Terriers an important eight point lead.
  • Despite the best efforts of the Terriers the Raiders went on a 7-0 run, including a buzzer-beater three, to send it to overtime tied at 62.
  • Kesse-Beda dominated in the opening minutes of overtime, scoring three points and earning a block to give the Terriers a 65-62 lead.
  • Kay McLellan, Alderman, and Brooklyn Calder all came up huge, going a combined 6-0 from the free throw line in the closing minutes to give the Terriers a 73-68 win.
