Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Blackmon and Godley Lead Men's Basketball to 82-66 Conference Win Over VTSU-Johnson

Waterville, ME - Men's Basketball earned its fifth North Atlantic Conference win of the season on Saturday, January 24th, defeating the Vermont State University-Johnson Badgers by a final score of 82-66. TJ Blackmon (19 pts) and Isaiah Godley (18 pts) led the Terriers in scoring, with first year Brady Adams adding a career-high of 16 points.

How it Happened:
  • Both the Terriers and Badgers traded points to open the first half, but three consecutive three pointers from Blackmon, Godley, and Adams gave the Terriers a 15-6 lead shortly after.
  • Buckets from Godley, Blackmon, and Jayden Kim helped extend the Terriers lead to 15 points in the following minutes.
  • The Terriers would continue to build momentum midway through the first half, completing a 10-0 scoring run thanks to Godley, Yasmo Mohamud, and Nate Hebert.
  • Hebert and Spencer Minihan kept the Terriers' offense rolling in the following minutes, each knocking down baskets to extend the lead to 25 points.
  • The Badgers looked to cut into their deficit in the closing minutes of the first half, but a late transition layup by Adams sent the Terriers into halftime with a 47–30 lead.
  • Godley, Blackmon, and Adams would take over the Terriers offense in the opening minutes of the 2nd half, combining for 16 quick points to extend the Terriers lead to 27 points.
  • Back to back three-pointers from Mohamud and Jayden Desimone would make it a 70-40 game with 13 minutes remaining in regulation.
  • The Badgers completed a small scoring run midway through the 2nd half, but a three-pointer from Mohamud and tough finish in the paint from Ibrahim Doumbouya would keep the momentum with the Terriers.
  • Another scoring run from the Badgers made it a 16 point game in the final minutes of 2nd half, but the Terriers would ultimately take control of the remainder of the match to claim a 82-66 conference win at home.
