Men's Ice Hockey Earns Home Victory Against WPI

Hallowell, ME - Men's Ice Hockey earned a home victory against Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, January 17th, 2026. The final score was 3-1 as the Terriers outshot WPI 50-27.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers started off hot, finding the net just 13 seconds in after Caleb Micklon found Quinn Hawley, scoring to make it 1-0.
  • After the goal the Terriers continued their dominance, racking up several solid chances on goal in the next few minutes.
  • With nine minutes to go in the first period the Terriers doubled their lead, thanks to Ian McClatchy finding Devon Fay, who scored.
  • Terrier goaltender Matt D'Ortona was called into action several times in the first, making 10 total saves to take a 2-0 lead into the second.
  • 12 Minutes into the second period the Terriers struck again, this time Joe Fischetto and Nick Fischetto finding Jack Perron, who scored to make it 3-0.
  • The Terriers remained composed and disciplined with their comfortable lead, playing strong defense and not giving WPI any powerplay opportunities.
  • Heading into the third period the WPI goaltender continued to shine, making several incredible saves to prevent any further scoring.
  • Four minutes into the third period WPI finally got on the scoreboard, making it 3-1.
  • Despite a powerplay opportunity for WPI in the final 10 minutes, the Terrier defense held strong to secure a home 3-1 win.

  • Men's Ice Hockey will be back in action on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, when they travel to take on Central Maine Community College in Auburn, ME. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
