Women's Basketball Bounces Back With Statement Conference Win Over UMPI

Presque Isle, ME - Pryelle Kesse-Beda (18 Pts) and Emily Hagerty (13 Pts) led the Terriers to a dominant 64-38 North Atlantic Conference win over the University of Maine Presque Isle on Saturday, January 17th. The win over the Owls improves the Terriers record to 11-5 overall and 7-3 within North Atlantic Conference play.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers would claim the momentum from the opening tip, completing a 5-0 run thanks to Elena Alderman and Roxy Dagostino.
  • Dagostino would continue to fuel the Terriers offense midway through the 1st quarter with buckets on consecutive possessions, extending the Terriers lead to 10-2.
  • Strong defense from the Terriers, along with a late layup from Hagerty to close the half, gave the Terriers a 12–7 advantage after ten minutes of play.
  • The Owls would chip away at their deficit in the opening minutes of the 2nd quarter, but a three-pointer from Mykey Avni and jumper from Kaya Loring would keep the momentum with the Terriers.
  • Alderman and K. Loring continued to build on the Terriers lead midway through the 2nd half, each contributing to help extend the Terriers lead to eleven points.
  • The Terriers would maintain the momentum late in the 2nd quarter with back to back buckets from Hagerty, sending Thomas into the half with a 27-16 lead.
  • Hagerty and Kesse-Beda would take over the Terriers offense in the opening minutes of the third quarter, combining for six quick points to make it a 33-19 game.
  • Alderman and Kesse-Beda would continue to create scoring opportunities for the Terriers midway through 3rd quarter with strong finishes in the paint and made free throws.
  • The Terriers would close the 4th quarter with a 12-4 run thanks to Kesse-Beda and Holly Loring, sending the Terriers into the 4th quarter with a twenty-three point lead.
  • A layup from K. Loring and a three-pointer by Avni fueled the Terriers' offense early in the fourth.
  • Buckets from Brooklyn Calder, Alderman, and Kesse-Beda midway through the 4th quarter would put the Terriers ahead 58-34 with just over four minutes to play.
  • But the Terriers would ultimately control the remainder of the 4th quarter to claim a 64-38 North Atlantic Conference win over the Owls.
