Men's Basketball Falls to UMPI in NAC Road Battle

Presque Isle, ME - Men's Basketball traveled to Presque Isle, Maine on Saturday, January 17th to take on the University of Maine Presque Isle in a North Atlantic Conference match-up, but would ultimately fall to the Owls by a final score of 78-87. Despite the loss, Terriers guard TJ Blackmon would lead all scorers in the contest with 25 points.

How it Happened:
  • The Owls would claim the early lead in the opening minutes of the 1st half, but six quick points from Blackmon and Isaiah Godley would knot the game at 6-6 shortly after.
  • Back to back three pointers from Blackmon and a Brady Adams layup would put the Terriers ahead 14-9 minutes later.
  • The Owls would cut their deficit to just two points midway through the 1st half, but buckets from Blackmon and Isiah Corson would keep the momentum in the Terriers hands.
  • But UMPI would find a response late in the half, completing a large scoring run to put the Terriers down 26-42 at the half.
  • Both teams would trade points in the opening minutes of the 2nd half, but points from Godley, Blackmon, and Corson would make it a 35-47 game.
  • Adams and Godley would keep the Terriers offense going with buckets in the following minutes, but the Owls would maintain a double digit lead with just over 13 minutes to play.
  • The Terriers continued to battle midway through the 2nd half with key buckets from Jayden Desimone, Payton Mitchell, and Yasmo Mohamud to cut the deficit to just 11 points.
  • But the Owls consistently answered the Terriers' offensive efforts with made shots of their own in the following minutes.
  • The Terriers would cut their deficit to single digits late in the 2nd half with made baskets from Blackmon, Godley and Spencer Minihan.
  • But despite the Terriers comeback attempt, the Owls would ultimately hold on to hand the Terriers a 78-87 North Atlantic Conference loss.
