Men's Basketball Comes up Short Against SUNY Delhi

Delhi, NY - Men's Basketball battled SUNY Delhi point for point through the opening 20 minutes of play before a decisive second-half surge swung the momentum, as the Terriers fell 56-64 to the Broncos in a tightly contested North Atlantic Conference match-up on Saturday, January 10th.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers would jump out to a 6-0 lead in the opening minutes of the first half thanks to strong finishes in the paint from TJ Blackmon and Isiah Corson.
  • Delhi would find a response minutes later, but made free throws from Corson and Payton Mitchell would keep the lead in the Terriers hands.
  • Buckets from Isaiah Godley and Jayden Desimone midway through the 1st half would extend the Terriers lead to six points.
  • But a small scoring run from the Broncos shortly after would knot the game at 18-18 with less than 8 minutes remaining in the half.
  • Thomas would reclaim the lead late in the half with a bucket in the paint from Corson and two made free-throws from Godley, but the Broncos would continue to chip away at their deficit minutes later.
  • The Terriers offense slowed in the final minutes of the first half, but a layup in the closing seconds from Ibrahim Doumboya sent them into halftime with a narrow 29–27 lead.
  • Both teams would trade points to open the 2nd half of play, but a small scoring run from the Broncos would put the Terriers behind.
  • Yasmo Mohamud and Godley would keep the offense going minutes later with made free-throws, but the Broncos offense would continue to find ways to extend their lead.
  • The Terriers would look to generate some momentum midway through the 2nd half, with Mitchell finishing on back-to-back layups to cut the Terriers deficit to just two points.
  • Godley and Blackmon would take over the offense minutes later, each contributing to help the Terriers claim a 51-49 lead late in the 2nd half.
  • But solid play on both sides of the ball from the Broncos minutes later would put the Terriers down 53-57 with just under 2 minutes remaining.
  • Despite the Terriers late comeback efforts in the final minute of play, the Broncos would ultimately hold on to hand the Terriers a 56-64 North Atlantic Conference loss on the road.
