Men’s Soccer Falls in Elm City Cup Against Colby

Waterville, ME – Men's Soccer traveled to take on Colby College in the annual cross-town Elm City Cup. Despite some positive moments, some world-class goals from the Mules saw the Terriers fall 1-4.

How it Happened:
  • Both teams started off trading shots, with the Terriers Jereimah Gomez forcing a save from the Mules goalkeeper in the 14th minute.
  • A flurry of shots and corner kicks starting in the 22nd minute forced Jamie Fischer to two good saves to keep it 0-0.
  • Colby continued their pace for the remainder of the first half, but Fischer did well to prevent any goals conceded.
  • The Mules started the second half similarly to how they ended the first, with the Terriers under pressure.
  • In the 57th minute a powerful long-range strike from the Mules found the top left corner and saw them take a 1-0 lead over the Terriers.
  • The Mules struck again in the 64th minute, taking a 2-0 lead.
  • However, the Terriers responded in the 80th minute, with a pass from David Ivarsson finding Shafi Ibrahim, who scored to cut the Mule lead to just one.
  • Despite the comeback bid, the Mules were able to convert a penalty kick a few minutes later and punched in another goal in the 84th minute to hand the Terriers a 1-4 loss.
