Field Hockey Earns Hard-Fought 2-1 Win Against Lasell

Newton, MA - Field Hockey traveled to take on the Lasell University Lasers on Saturday, September 20th, 2025. The final score was 2-1 in a hard-fought contest.

How it Happened:
  • It took the Terriers just a few minutes to earn their first opportunity, with Leah Knight's shot from a penalty corner being saved by the Laser goalkeeper.
  • Another penalty corner 10 minutes in from Maci Freeman found Samantha Thebarge, who scored to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
  • Just one minute later Kara Richards had two attempts on goal that were both denied by defensive saves.
  • With less than 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter another shot from Thebarge was blocked.
  • Headed into the second quarter the Lasers turned up the intensity, forcing two good saves from Eliya Drummond in the first two minutes.
  • A few minutes later Thebarge nearly scored her second, but was denied by the Lasers goalkeeper.
  • The Lasers closed out the second quarter well, earning three shots, one of which was saved by Drummond.
  • The Terriers went into halftime up 1-0 and looked to add to their lead.
  • In the third quarter the Terriers played much better, not allowing a single shot from the Lasers.
  • Three minutes in two shots on goal from Richards were both saved, keeping the score at 1-0.
  • With three minutes left in the quarter Knight found Richards, who scored to give the Terriers an important 2-0 lead.
  • The Terriers carried their momentum early into the fourth quarter, with a shot from Richards needing another save from a penalty corner.
  • With eight minutes left to play the Lasers earned a goal back just after a Terrier green card, making it 2-1.
  • Despite the goal the Terriers remained strong on defense, and didn't allow another shot from the Lasers for the remainder of the game, eventually earning a 2-1 win.
