Field Hockey Falls to VTSU Castleton in Non-Conference Matchup

Castleton, VT – Field Hockey traveled to take on Vermont State Unviersity Castleton on Sunday, September 14th, 2025. The final score was 1-3.
 
How it Happened:
  • The Terriers started the game well, with Samantha Thebarge getting a good look on goal from a penalty corner.
  • Another shot on goal, this time from Leah Knight forced another save from the Castleton goalkeeper.
  • Eliya Drummond was forced to make two saves over the next seven minutes, keeping the score at 0-0.
  • With two minutes left in the first quarter a penalty corner inserted by Maci Freeman found Thebarge, who scored to make it 1-0.
  • Castleton turned up the intensity in the second quarter, earning several good looks on goal.
  • With five minutes remaining until halftime Castleton tied things at 1-1.
  • Neither team scored for the remainder of the half and both teams entered the locker room tied.
  • Two minutes into the third quarter Castleton scored their second of the game, giving them the lead.
  • Castleton largely controlled the third quarter, earning several penalty corners.
  • Headed into the fourth quarter, Castleton continued to pile on the pressure.
  • Drummond was once again called into action, making several saves to deny any opposing chances.
  • With six minutes remaining in the game Castleton scored again, making it 1-3.
  • Despite a late push from the Terriers, which included four penalty corners, they were unable to capitalize and walked away with a 1-3 loss.
