Waterville, ME – Field Hockey took on the #8 Bates College Bobcats at home on Wednesday, September 10
th, 2025. The final score was 0-2 in a highly competitive contest.
How it Happened:
- The Bobcats had the first chance on goal four minutes in, forcing a save from Eliya Drummond off of a penalty corner.
- Two minutes later a penalty corner from Maci Freeman found Kara Richards, who nearly found the back of the net for the Terriers.
- Both teams battled for possession for the remainder of the quarter, taking the 0-0 scoreline into the second.
- Drummond was forced to make two good saves early in the second quarter, but a rebound eventually found the back of the net, giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
- Two shots from Leah Knight and Samantha Thebarge off of penalty corners nearly found the back of the net, but
- In the final seconds of the first half the Bobcats had their shot blocked by the Terrier defense, and the Terriers entered halftime only down 0-1 to the #8 ranked team.
- Both teams traded shots in the first five minutes of the second half, with the Terriers getting the better of the chances.
- Shots on goal from Thebarge and Freeman were both either blocked or saved, and the score remained 0-1.
- The Bobcats earned a few more shots in the quarter but couldn't convert.
- One minute into the fourth quarter a foul on a defensive save from the Bobcats gave the Terriers a penalty stroke, but the Bobcats' goalkeeper came up with a huge save to preserve their 1-0 lead.
- Four minutes later Thebarge had another shot on goal that forced a good save from the Bobcats goalkeeper.
- With less than two minutes to play the Bobcats scored to make it 2-0, eventually handing the Terriers the loss.
- Despite the loss the Terriers played extremely well against the #8 ranked Bobcats, only being outshot 15-10.
