Waterville, ME – Field Hockey earned their first win of 2025 against the Mount Holyoke College Lyons in a strong defensive performance on Sunday, August 31^st, 2025. The final score was 2-0.
 
How it Happened:

• The first quality chance of the game came 10 minutes in for the Terriers, when a penalty corner from Maci Freeman found Samantha Thebarge, who forced a good save from the Lyons goalkeeper.
• Both teams were stuck in a deadlock until four minutes in to the second quarter, when Tatiana Roque was able to steer a loose ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
• The Terriers largely dominated the quarter, not allowing the Lyons to get a single shot off.
• Later in the quarter Roque had an attempt on goal that was initially saved, but Caroline Hendrickson scooped it and scored to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead.
• The Terriers went into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 lead and looked to continue their success into the third quarter.
• After an early shot on goal in the third from Kara Richards the Lyons responded in a big way, forcing four saves from Eliya Drummond in the next few minutes.
• The Lyons ended the third quarter with another penalty corner but couldn't capitalize thanks to some overall strong defensive work from the Terriers.
• The Terriers entered the fourth quarter in a good position, and both teams had their chances in the next few minutes.
• A flurry of penalty corners from the Terriers in the last five minutes were all either blocked or went just wide.
• The game ended in a 2-0 win for the Terriers after a strong defensive showing.
