Waterville, ME – Field Hockey fell just short against the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds on Friday, August 29^th, 2025. The final score was 1-2.
 
How it Happened:

• Skidmore started well, forcing an early save from Terrier goalkeeper Mackenzie Toner a minute in to keep it 0-0.
• The Terriers responded with two penalty corners of their own, one of which Samantha Thebarge was able to put on frame - but it was eventually saved.
• Both teams battled for possession for the rest of the quarter, but headed into the second quarter still tied.
• Toner was forced to make another important save from a penalty corner a few minutes later, denying another Skidmore chance.
• Later in the quarter Caroline Hendrickson had a good look on goal, but the Skidmore goalkeeper came up with another save to take the 0-0 score headed into halftime.
• Three minutes into the second half Skidmore struck first after a rebound in front of goal to make it 0-1.
• Less than two minutes later Kara Richards found Leah Knight in front of goal, and Knight scored to make it 1-1.
• Thebarge had a good look on goal from a penalty corner in the final few minutes of the period, but had her shot saved to keep things tied headed into the fourth quarter.
• Skidmore generated a few early shots on goal in the fourth quarter but eventually found a breakthrough with 10 minutes remaining to make it 2-1.
• The Skidmore goalkeeper came up big again a few minutes later after some on-field confusion led to a breakaway for Tatiana Roque, who had her shot saved.
• The Terriers couldn't generate any more clear-cut opportunities on goal for the remainder of the game, and eventually fell 1-2 against a strong Skidmore squad.
