Softball Splits Doubleheader Against University of New England

Biddeford, ME – Softball split a doubleheader matchup against the University of New England on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025. The final scores were 2-1 and 1-3.
 
How it Happened:
 
Game 1
  • The Terriers got on the scoreboard first, with a ground-rule double from Emily Rock setting up Brooklyn Federico to help Rock reach home to make it 1-0.
  • Neither team could find much offense during the majority of the game thanks to some good pitching, especially from Megan Oberholzer.
  • Abby Farone opened up the fifth inning with a well-placed bunt that earned her two bases.
  • Oberholzer would then send a single to left center, which scored Farone to make it 2-0.
  • The Nor'easters scored a run in the bottom of the inning, but Oberholzer was able to end the game in the circle for the Terriers, earning an important 2-1 win.

  • Megan Oberholzer – 1 Hit, 1 RBI, 7 Innings Pitched, 1 Run Allowed, 6 Strikeouts

Game 2
  • The Nor'easters jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Terriers looked primed to bounce back.
  • In the third inning Oberholzer and Mackenzie Toner both singled while Leah Knight walked, leaving a bases loaded situation for Teresa McLinden.
  • McLinden was able to earn an RBI, making it 1-2.
  • The Nor'easters earned another run in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Terriers were still very much in the game.
  • The next best chance for the Terriers to score came in the seventh inning.
  • A big double from Oberholzer and a walk to McLinden meant the Terriers had two on base.
  • Despite the hits, the Terriers were unable to capitalize and fell in game two 1-3.
