Men's Tennis Second Matchup Versus USM Huskies Ends in Similar Fashion

Box Score | Waterville, Maine - Men's Tennis was at home today facing the University of Southern Maine Huskies in an out of conference match up on Wednesday, April 9th at 4:00 PM. The Terreirs ended up victorious with a 7-2 win.
 
How it Happened:
 
Doubles:
  • Gabriel McPhail and Sebastian Soto at #1 had a hard fought match but ended up losing 7-5 in the tie break.
  • However, at #2 Dominic Clifford and Camden Herrick were able to get it done and win 8-3.
  • In similar fashion Harrison Withee and Nick Magiera at #3 were able to put give Thomas the 2-1 lead out of doubles, winning 8-3.
 
Singles:
  • McPhail at #1 had the nail biter match of the day. First set he went down 3-6, second set he had a three game lead, however his opponent tied at 5-5. McPhail pulled through and won the second set 7-5. The tie break went back and forth but, in the end, McPhail won 12-10.
  • Soto on the other hand didn't have a very different looking match, winning 6-0, 6-4
  • Herrick, like Soto, came close to a clean sweep, winning 6-0, 6-1.
  • Clifford played well but ended his singles wins streak playing a tough opponent - falling 4-6,4-6.
  • Calvin Cutler subbed in for #5, Cutler had a warm up first set losing 1-6, but coming back to win the second sent 6-3, and the third 6-2.
  • To finish strong Casey Duncan came off the bench to get a 6-1, 6-3 win.
 
What's Next:
  • The Terriers are at home but playing at A-COPI Tennis & Sports Center is Augusta, ME for in conference play against the Norwich University Cadets on Saturday April, 12 at 2:30 PM.
