Terriers Sweep Lynx in North Atlantic Conference Doubleheader

Waterville, ME – The Thomas College Softball team hosted the Lesley University Lynx on Monday, April 28th, in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader. The Terriers would earn both conference wins in five innings of play, defeating the Lynx by scores of 8-0 and 9-0.  

Game 1: Thomas 8, Lesley 0 

How it Happened: 

  • Mackenzie Toner would get things going for the Terriers in the bottom of the first inning with a two RBI single to right field to give the Terriers an early 2-0 lead. 

  • Makayla Panich and Corinne Vasvary would keep the momentum going for the Terriers with both picking up RBI singles. Panich would steal home shortly after to extend the Terriers lead to 5-0 after the first inning. 

  • The Terriers would capitalize off a Lynx error in the second inning, scoring one run to give the Terriers a 6-0 lead 

  • RBI Singles from Maddy Morris and Teresa McLinden in the third and fourth would extend the Terriers lead to 8-0 heading into the fifth inning. 

  • The Terriers would claim the conference victory in game one after a strong performance from Terriers pitcher Megan Oberholzer, picking up 7 strikeouts to help defeat the Lynx by a score of 8-0 in 5 innings of play. 
     

Inside the Stats: 

  • Megan Oberholzer – 5 IP, 3 Hits Allowed, 7 Strikeouts, 3 for 3 at the plate 

Game 2: Thomas 9, Lesley 0 

  • Megan Oberholzer would score the first runs of the game for the Terriers in the bottom of the first inning, hitting an RBI triple that would allow Oberholzer to reach home after an error by the Lynx. 

  • The Terriers would capitalize on a Lynx error in the second inning, with McLinden reaching second on an error from the Lynx that would drive in three runs. 

  • A Corinne Vasvary hit would score another run from the Terriers, but another error from the Lynx would allow Vasvary to reach home. 

  • The Terriers would close out the Lynx in the fifth inning and would earn the win by a score of 9-0 in the doubleheader sweep. 

  • Addy Boyce would take command of the mound for the Terriers in game two vs the Lynx, earning 7 strikeouts while only allowing one hit. Brooklyn Federico would close the game for the Terriers, earning 2 strikeouts.

What's Next: 

The Terriers will travel to Presque Isle, Maine, to take on the University of Maine-Presque-Isle Owls in a four-game North Atlantic Conference series. Games 1 and 2 are scheduled for Saturday, May 1st, at 1 and 3 PM, with games 3 and 4 scheduled for Sunday, May 2nd, at 12 and 2 PM.
